The Brief on KP:

Kathryn Payne was born and raised in Birmingham, AL and educated in Savannah, GA. She loves the food, community, and heat of the South, and since graduation has lived in Charleston, SC.

She graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design for Motion Graphics and Advertising in June of 2017. After graduation, she worked with both Moondog Animation Studio and Thinkmojo as an intern on projects for companies like Sprint and Best Buy as well as a Social Media Manager across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Dribbble, and Pinterest.

Following her internships she freelanced, working on a variety of motion and design projects for businesses, production companies, and ad agencies. Notable clients include Terminix, Blackbaud, and the city of Winston-Salem.

After her success as a freelancer, she joined Boeing Aerospace as a Visual Practitioner and UX Designer. In this position she worked as an internal consultant, partnering with teams to solve problems through creativity and visuals of all sorts- illustrations, diagrams, story-maps, icons, and her specialty- animations and videos. Bringing movement and artistry to an industry traditionally regarded as mechanically-minded was a joy and an experience she’d like to repeat.

Following heavy layoffs at Boeing due to the Max groundings & Covid19, KP began working for New Wire, a rapidly growing custom marine dash panel manufacturer and distributor located here in the low-country. She headed the creative of the company, taking photos and videos of completed projects, editing videos, writing, scheduling and posting social media content, as well as adding new products to the website.

KP appreciates well-executed projects, art that makes her think, and unexpected humor. Some of her all-time favorite motion projects include "Forms in Nature" by Chronoshere and David Kamp and “Giants” by Riot Games.

When not working, KP enjoys playing Magic the Gathering, ultimate frisbee, and reading in bed with her cats. She loves eating tasty food, but is a hopeless cook.
